Chia Seeds Recommended for Women to Keep Estrogen Levels Normal

Researchers at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) have recently discovered that chia seeds may play a significant role in helping women maintain normal estrogen levels. This finding could have important implications for women’s health and wellness.

Estrogen is a hormone that is crucial for the development and functioning of the female reproductive system . It also plays a key role in bone health, cognitive function, and cardiovascular health. Eighty-four percent (84%) of the group of women who consumed chia were able to maintain their estrogen levels within a healthy range. In contrast, only 58% of the non-consumers remained within the recommended estrogen levels.

Maintaining estrogen levels as a woman ages can prevent a decline in sexual desire (libido), thus contributing to a satisfying sexual life into older years. 91% of individuals who consumed chia retained a high libido level, in contrast to only 72% of those who did not consume chia.

Collagen plays a crucial role in maintaining smooth and youthful skin. The formation of disulfide bridges, a biochemical process, leads to the appearance of aged skin due to the aging of collagen.

In the experiment involving chia consumers, approximately 93% of the participants maintained their level of “young”, unbridged collagen, compared to just 42% among those who did not consume chia. This remarkable finding indicates that chia consumption not only stabilizes estrogen levels but also aids in preventing skin aging.

Dr. Mueller emphasized that while the study’s findings are encouraging, further research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms by which chia seeds may influence estrogen levels. However, she believes that incorporating chia seeds into a balanced diet could be a simple and natural way for women to support their hormonal health.
